Dick Emery OBE, Chairman Former CEO of UKTV

Dick Emery OBE

Dick was appointed to the Board of Central Television as Director of Sales in 1983. During his chairmanship of the ITA’s Marketing Committee (1986-8), he was instrumental in removing formalised share schemes and increasing the permitted amount of peak time commercial minutes. In 1989 he was the co-founder of Television Sales and Marketing Services (TSMS), Britain’s first independent sales house. He left in 1991 to join the Board of ITN as its first Commercial Director, and in 1993 joined the ITV Network Centre as Director of Market Strategy. In 1994 Dick joined BBC Worldwide as Director of Strategy and was later appointed Managing Director of BBC Worldwide Television, establishing significant joint ventures with Discovery Communications Inc. on a global basis, and with Flextech in the UK creating UKTV in November 1997. Dick joined UKTV the following year.

Kimberly Stewart

Kim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, Television and Film Communications from Northwestern University. Her subsequent film career spanned the globe with production experience in New York, Hollywood, London and East Africa.

Kim worked with the visionary director/producer Francis Thompson on several IMAX films and was responsible for natural history research and accuracy in production. In 1986, she brought the IMAX Corporation together with the BBC Natural History Unit for the purpose of producing the very best wildlife films in the IMAX format.

Kim married her husband David, a Scotsman, in 1988. They reside in Scotland and are parents to 4 children. The family all have a love for Nature at home in Scotland, in America and around the world.
