Pictures in the making
Our prestigious festivals gather the world’s best in wildlife photography and filmmaking. They are a chance to inspire and celebrate the most compelling storytelling about the natural world from across the globe. Through these festivals we define industry agendas and promote excellence in storytelling.
Wildscreen Film Festival
The Film Festival’s purpose is to showcase the very best in the business, the latest technological innovations and new storytelling styles, as well providing a fun and friendly place for networking, to negotiate those deals and nurture that all important new talent. With delegates arriving from every corner of the globe, it’s the perfect opportunity for filmmakers, executives, broadcasters, programme makers, funders, buyers and commissioners to meet face- to-face to make those all important deals. Films funded, sales agreed, distribution deals done and films promoted - it all happens here at the Wildscreen Film Festival.
Rounding the week off is the glittering Wildscreen Panda Awards - dubbed the ‘Green Oscars’ - which celebrates the very best in natural history filmmaking.
Many hundreds of films from around the world are entered into the Wildscreen Panda Awards and receiving a Panda is one of the highest accolades for a filmmaker in the natural history filmmaking industry. This year we also launch the Panda Cub Awards, for all of the young filmmakers out there, plus the Against All Odds Award & the Science Award.
The Film Festival is also, of course, an important international forum for exploring how wildlife filmmaking can help reconnect people with nature, and promote positive action to protect our natural world.
The Wildscreen Film Festival wouldn’t be possible without the huge support from our sponsors and partners. A special thank you to BBC Earth and Discovery for their invaluable support as principal sponsors this year and Bristol City Council for their continued support of the Festival over the years.
