The Oscars of the wildlife film industry, Wildscreen’s Panda Awards, were announced on Thursday 23 October 2014 at a prestigious and glittering awards ceremony.

The Panda Awards are the climax of the Wildscreen Festival, the world’s leading bi-annual natural history film event now in its 32nd year. The ceremony was presented by Patrick Aryee and Monty Halls and held at the Passenger Shed, Brunel’s Old Station, Bristol, UK.

This year, the illustrious WWF Golden Panda Award, which is given to the best overall production went to On a River in Ireland by Crossing the Line Productions. The film also took the Script Award and shared the Panasonic Cinematography Award with Disneynature (UK) for Chimpanzee.

Presented by Wildscreen Trustee, Keith Scholey, the Outstanding Achievement Award which is given to an organisation or individual that has made a globally significant contribution to wildlife filmmaking, conservation and/or the public’s understanding of the environment went to Bristol-based John Downer.

Wildscreen Festival is the world’s leading bi-annual wildlife and environmental film event. Over 880 delegates from over 30 countries attended this year’s festival, with over 2,500 members of the public attending screenings of the nominated films throughout festival.
